An Impressive 18th Century Late Régence / Early Louis XV Giltwood Mirror

A mirror of substance and presence. The mirror retains its original mercury mirror plate set within a lovely scalloped shaped finely mottled frame.

Displaying a stunning array of decorative designs, the base is adorned with elegantly scrolled feet flanking beautifully carved acanthus and palmettes of graduating sizes, with a central dotted palmette and foliate reserve.

The corners display lovely large, scrolled acanthus decoration set on their original mirrored background with leaves extending up and down the frame.

The majestic top crown displays a striking and most impressive richly carved central openwork palmette, cushioning a string of graduating pebbles blooming from within. Flanked by lovely c-scrolls and two decorative dotted palmettes, blooming flowers encased within reeded scroll work, topped with a single rosette.
