This exquisite and detailed illustration is a Diptych (2 panel) framed chinoiserie mural called Maysong Green. A work of Art in their own sense. The scene is filled with large, colourful pheasants in a flowering forest on a soft grey green background. The mural has 11 panels for repeating. These available panels are Panel 6 and Panel 11. They are a beautiful sage green colour which lightens or deepens depending on the light in the available space and have been hand painted on tea paper.
This particular design is from the world renowned Paul Montgomery Studios in the USA, where they were individually commissioned using the same methods and techniques as was done for hundreds of years in China. They are all hand painted by artisans providing a unique perspective of the sensitive interpretation of nature as seen in Asian paintings and screens from the Chinese nobility during the Ming Dynasty c.1368 – c.1644.

Paul Montgomery
Paul Montgomery has been an artist his entire life, and has proven to be versatile and engaging in a broad range of mediums, styles and genres.
Early paintings were copies of beloved old masters and the European schools. Still life studies and landscape painting were his favorite themes, and helped found his abilities at detail and realism. Chinoiserie was an inspiration after a visit to the Freer Gallery in Washington in his late teen years.
This sparked a life-long love of the unique perspective of the sensitive interpretation of nature as seen in Asian paintings and screens
